T> is. People that can utilize knowledge must also learn when and when not to T> use it. A> Boom: This is the spot where religion comes in. More than a belief in God A> religion is more valuable as a tool for homogenizing beliefs in society. I'm A> the last person to want to fit everyone into the same mold; however, some A> ethical beliefs should be held static for everyone regardless of their A> personal views on if God exists or not...such as respect for each other and A> other views etc. Why is religion no longer important? Because of the advent A> science and materialism in society. Science is not so much at fault as the A> people who use it improperly. It bounces to contradictions between science a A> religion in terms of trivial matters; such as the creation of earth A> etc....Science has no morals, so it is far easier to follow than religion. I A> does not denounce anyone or any sort of behaviour, it just observes. As a A> result, people like to follow science more than religion. The sad part is th A> they can BOTH be followed as they are completely different things. Science A> deals with the trivial matters, while religion deals with spiritual ones. Th A> are nothing the same yet people want to replace one with the other. If peopl A> could come to that conclusion, a lot of the problems in society would A> mysteriously dissapear. Not bad. That is true, But WHO'S Ethical and moral values do we as a group go by? someone who is quite liberal or someone like a menonite who can be very close minded sometimes. What might seem okay with one group can be one of the greatest sins to another. Trying to go in the middle between the 2 extremes seems logical HOWEVER it just doesn't work, such as everyone accepting the Gay life style in its entirety is okay, but in exchange abortion is to be outlawed forever. I mean you basically have science on one side, and religion on the other. Both defying one another.
