S> You're a pretty smart guy..:) I used to think that religion was such a S> crock, due to the fact that science prooves it all wrong. And if you think S> about it, it's not likely that everything in the bible actually happened. B S> lately... i've changed a bit. Just because i don't believe EVERYTHING S> happened, doesn't mean that there isn't a lesson to be learned. If everybod S> followed the basic morals behind the bible... we'd live in a better society. Not only the Bible. If you read up even the remotest of facts on other religions...even in a friggin encyclopedia, you can learn that almost every religion has the same common grounds...like respecting your parents and others, not killing, etc etc...you can see that these foundational morals are evident in almost every religion. As a result, one can come to the conclusion that the religion one chooses is irrelevant, as long as they are believing in something. The religion is only the medium, the message is the important part.
S> Anyways, i'm just saying that because i believe in Science over Religion S> i would still like to think that i follow the ethics which are taught by S> religion. That's perfectly fine. Most of my atheist friends and the people I have talked to don't believe in a "God" like others do; but they do abide to their own morals. And if you think about it those morals are the same as the ones that religion dictates. Cause every Atheist I have talked to had SOMEONE in their family that believed in religion...a mother, a father, a grandmother etc....so someone gave them impressions on what was ethically correct and not. As a result, even though ATheists say they don't believe in God, what they're not believing in are the MINUTE DETAILS but the message is still there.
