I'd argue that there is a common group for everyone. In every religion to some
extent there are the same common beliefs, except for the minute details, such
as rituals and no-no's....but look in every major religion you will see stuff
like "respect your parents"...."treat others like how you want to be
treated..."don't be selfish"...."don't kill"...stuff like that. That is all a
common thread between the religions. It is sad to see that so many people
argue about the trivial matters, like who's religion could beat up someone
else's...when essentially the message is the same, only the medium is
different. Whether you watch the X-Files on a Sony TV or a Panasonic one is no
difference, you're still watching the X-Files...as a result, religious morals
are all the same even if the way they're taught are different.

Of course it doesn't. The exact reason why there are so many problems in
society is that people try to solve problems by taking a median approach, when
one group is right wing and the other left. What people have to realize is
that there is ALWAYS going to be a contradication in beliefs. That is what
makes us better than any other creature on earth...our ability to think for
ourselves. Asking to take that away means to undermine the human race. People
just have to realize that they just should stick to their guns but keep their
ears open enough to hear what others are saying.

That's because people are shunning religion...religion is VERY difficult to
follow....it's much easier to say "I'm an atheist, this is how I am" and live
that way.

Honestly, they're not. Science is an explanation of how natural phenomenon
happen in life. Religion is the dictation on our spiritualism and how we
shoudl treat others. They don't contradict each other because they aren't even
talking about the same thing. Granted, all religions have explanations for the
original occurances...such as the creation of earth, etc etc, and science
undermines that. But those things are meaningless in Religion in the sense
that they are unimportant to how we should treat one another and ourselves.
Science does NOT tell us how to treat one another and that's why people try to
escape to it. Because it's a lot easier to follow (See point above). I find it
ironic and sad in a way when people say they don't believe in religion because
of science....they are so completely different. It is only the trivial, the
meaningless, where science and religion contradict each other. The important
part of religion, how to treat other people and yourself, is still intact. And
last time I checked, no science text book or bunsen burner told you how to do
that.
